Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 19, 2026
BestSide helps you pick the best photos of yourself for a dating profile. It is built so that your photos and your Google account stay under your control. This policy explains exactly what the app accesses, what happens to your photos, and what we do and do not store.
The short version
- Signing in with Google is optional, and the sign-in token never leaves your phone.
- We only see the photos you explicitly pick, whether from your device's photo picker or the Google Photos picker, and only for the moment it takes to analyze them.
- Your photos are never stored on our servers.
- We have no user accounts and no database of your information.
Information the app accesses
Photos you select on your device.BestSide uses your device's native photo picker. You choose which photos to rank, and the app can access only those specific photos. It cannot browse, search, or access the rest of your photo library, and it asks for no library-wide permission to do so.
Google sign-in (optional). If you choose to pick from Google Photos instead, the app asks you to sign in with Google and receives a temporary authorization token so it can open the Google Photos picker on your behalf. This token is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to BestSide servers. You can disconnect your Google account from the app at any time.
Photos you select in Google Photos. The app uses the Google Photos Picker with the read-only scope photospicker.mediaitems.readonly. We can access only the specific photos you choose in the picker. We cannot browse, search, or access the rest of your Google Photos library.
How your photos are used
The photos you select are downscaled on your device. To produce your results, the app sends those photos to the BestSide analysis service, which passes them to Google's Gemini AI models to choose your best six and write a short note on each. This transfer happens only while an analysis is running.
Photos are processed in memory and discarded as soon as the analysis completes. They are never written to disk on our servers, never logged, and never used to train any model by us.
What we store
Our analysis service is stateless. It does not keep your photos, your results, or any account information. Your results and a marker tracking your one free analysis are stored locally on your device, and you can clear them by deleting the app.
Third-party services
BestSide relies on Google services: Google Sign-In and the Google Photos Picker API when you pick from Google Photos, and the Gemini API for analysis. Your use of those services is also governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Purchases are handled by Apple; BestSide never receives your payment details.
Limited use of Google user data
BestSide's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use the photos you select only to provide the in-app feature you requested. We do not transfer this data to third parties except as needed to provide that feature (the AI analysis described above), do not use it for advertising, and do not allow humans to read it except where required for security or to comply with the law.
Security
Photos are transferred over encrypted (HTTPS) connections and processed transiently. Because we keep no copies and hold no accounts, there is no stored personal data to be lost in a breach.
Children
BestSide is intended for people building adult dating profiles and is not directed to children. Do not use the app if you are under the age required to use dating services in your country.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the date at the top of this page.
